Between 1996 and 2001 taking photos in Afghanistan was a crime.

The Taliban regime fell, foreign media and troops withdrew, and Afghanistan was abandoned to its fate. Afghanistan’s photojournalists now remind us that their country still exists through their photos.

Four local reporters capture the history of this small country to tell the world what happened – and ensure it never happens again. Archive material never seen before: most filmed in secret during the Taliban regime. This documentary tells two stories: the tale of what happened there and the tale of its own protagonists determined to discover and broadcast the truth.

Incredible work transformed into a documentary thanks to 1251 people who raised $ 70,301 by crowdfunding to immortalise the Afghan drama so it would never be forgotten.
