''A meteorite wiped out the last of the dinosaurs. Now humanity has become a meteorite''. Mankind is causing the greatest catastrophe on the planet for 65 million years. Thirty thousand species become extinct every year. There is a proven relationship between CO2 emissions and animals becoming extinct. ''Eating hamburgers causes more pollution than driving a Hummer.''

Using undercover tactics and cutting-edge technology, the Racing Extinction team sets out on a dangerous quest to show that the countdown for planet Earth has begun. ''It’s not like a documentary, it's more of a thriller or James Bond film'', says director Louie Psihoyos. Infiltrating the most dangerous black markets in the world trafficking with endangered species, the film crew offers shocking new footage that will change how you see the world.

Did you know that raising animals for human consumption accounts for 21% of greenhouse gases around the globe? More than the entire transport industry. The consequences of the increasingly widespread western diet are devastating. It destroys natural habitats by generating huge emissions of CO2 and methane.

By the end of the century, we will have lost 50% of the world's species. Sharks, for example, have survived four mass extinctions of species on land, but are now seeing some of their species being decimated ... in a single human generation. When will we be ready to deal with this catastrophe? When the species we eat are no longer available because they have become extinct, forcing us to change our diet to jellyfish and other surviving species? Or will it already be too late?

We will be joined on this occasion by Rafael Sardá, Associate Professor of the Departament of Innovation and Operations at ESADE and scientist at Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC).

The film will be shown in the original version without subtitles
