Selection criteria for entities requesting Alumni Giving Back consultancy
Read more...
The following criteria comprise an evaluation guide for the Alumni Giving Back selection committee. They are not exclusive, instead they state the areas to be evaluated for each project requested. The order does not indicate priority, as they are to be evaluated as a whole.
Selection criteria:
1. Precision and clarity of the exact request for help. We prioritise clearly-defined and precise requests over those which are too general. We believe that we can be of more help and understand the project better when its description is exact.
2. Implication of directors and board of trustees in the specific request of tasks to be undertaken. All organisations for which we perform consultancy work must have, at least, the explicit approval of the board of trustees regarding our participation as volunteer consultants.
3. Proven need of the request for help. More urgent requests regarding the crucial question to be solved shall be prioritised.
4. Aim of the activity.
We prioritise entities whose activities are innovative, both from a social viewpoint and as working models. Likewise, we are interested in entities whose activities have a multiplying effect, and organisations which can truly involve our volunteers with the reality in question are viewed as more enriching.
5. Size.
Our aim is to help small and medium NGOs, as we consider that larger organisations can obtain this type of consultancy through other means.
.
6. Number of employees.
To participate it is necessary to have a minimum permanent structure of at least 10 employees, as the Alumni Giving Back teams have between seven and nine volunteers. With regard to the workforce, the entity must be able to designate a management level person as interlocutor for the assigned team of volunteers.
7. Years in operation. In order to evaluate the track record of the organization, we will consider consolidated entities in operation for a minimum of ten years. Even so, we will consider entities with less background if their activity is innovative or they provide services to recently-appeared needs, and if the seriousness of their actions can be verified to a certain extent.
8. Composition of the board of trustees.
Insofar boards of trustees are formed by professional, serious and dedicated people, more credibility shall be granted to the good practice of the organisation. Similarly, we value boards of trustees which have expressed their willingness to strengthen the governance and transparency criteria of the entity.
9. Suitability of the task requested to the skills and knowledge of our volunteers.
Priority shall be given to tasks whose requirements regarding content are in keeping with the knowledge and experience acquired at ESADE. Our volunteers boast professional knowledge in a vast range of areas, but the case may arise that some requests call for knowledge areas for which we do not have specialist volunteers.
10. Number of beneficiaries of the activity. We believe that organisations which benefit large collectives need help more urgently than those which attend smaller groups. We prioritise entities whose actions reach a greater number of direct or indirect beneficiaries.
11. Scope of services.
The greater the scope of services, the more enriching the participation of our volunteers would appear to be.
12. Location of the entity.
We mainly work in the provinces of Madrid and Barcelona. Nevertheless, each year we strive to attend to entities from other provinces. Priority is given according to the number of specific volunteers we have in each city.

Value proposition for collaborators and sponsors:
Communications: A great number of impacts through non-saturated channels. The presence of logos in newsletters, in materials, in websites, in magazines. Segmentation: Clearly identified, high-value public. Proximity: Opportunity to make contact with the sector by handing out the collaborator’s material and marketing at our events. Image: Association with ESADE values in an activity with great emotional implications.
