Mentoring Programme

The Mentoring Programme main objective is to give alumni the chance to discuss career-related issues with alumni mentors who have significant experience in a particular field and are willing to share information and knowledge that may be useful for the professional development of the mentoree.

»

Agents involved in the Mentoring Programme

- Mentor: any alumnus who is willing to give free help and feels that he/she has enough relevant professional experience to be able to provide information that will be useful for the professional future of other people.

- Mentoree: any Alumni member may become a mentoree, provided that our group of volunteer mentors includes a person with the background requested by the mentoree candidate.

- Career Services in Barcelona and Madrid: this office coordinates the programme. It processes mentor and mentoree applications and has the authority to withdraw the service if the rules are not followed.

HOW TO BE A MENTOR

If you are interested in providing free help alumni, you feel that you have significant experience and are able to pass it on, and you want to help develop the potential of the alumni community, then become a mentor.

Your mentoring agreement with ESADE will be based on a verbal commitment. You will not be asked to sign a contract and will be free to quit whenever you wish.

Rules and procedures for mentors

1.
Fill out the APPLICATION to be included in the mentor database.

2.
If a mentor with your experience has been requested, Career Services will send you information on the mentoree before he/she contacts you.

3. Each mentoree will be assigned to a mentor for three months. He/she may only meet with you (in person or by phone) three times during this period, unless you authorise further visits.

4. You must respond to your mentoree's requests in less than two weeks.

5. If, for any reason, you wish to end your relationship with your mentoree or quit the programme, just contact ESADE's Career Services.

HOW TO BE A MENTOREE:

Standards and procedures for mentorees

1. Fill out the motivation questionnaire in Spanish (here) or in English (here) and send it along with your CV to oficinadeorientacion@esade.edu in Barcelona or carrprof_madrid@esade.edu in Madrid.

2. Career Services will then assign a mentor provided that one is available who meets the application characteristics of the mentoree.

3. Once the mentor has been contacted by the mentoree, he or she will have two weeks to respond. If after this time the mentor has not responded to calls from the mentoree, the mentoree should contact Career Services and another mentor will be assigned.

4. The mentoree will have access to the mentor for a period of three months as of the date of assignment. He or she will have the right to call or visit the mentor, as mutually agreed between both parties, up to a maximum of three times provided that the mentor has not notified Career Services of their wishes to end the relationship.

5. The mentoree will be entitled to be assigned one mentor per year. A maximum of two mentors will be permitted if the professional situation of the mentoree is critical.

6. The level and amount of information that the mentor can give the mentoree will be decided by the mentor. At no time will the mentor be obliged to offer work or provide contacts to the mentoree. The degree of assistance offered to the mentoree will be at the discretion of the mentor.

At the end of the relationship, both mentor and mentoree will be required to fill in and return a brief Programme assessment questionnaire to Career Services
