The ESADE Alumni Marketing Club invites you to this session on communication 2.0 applied to politics.
For some time, in particular since the US presidential campaign in which Barack Obama ran against John McCain, there has been a sharp rise in candidates’ used of Web 2.0 tools to get their messages out to potential voters.
Obama in particular demonstrated the great potential of these technologies, heralding a shift away from the one-way messages that politicians use to send to their potential voters. Since Obama’s campaign, a huge number of Internet-based initiatives have started vying for the attention of voters. The tools used include Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, etc.
Since Obama’s 2008 campaign, political marketing – which was already changing – has undergone a major shift. The use of Web 2.0 technologies as communications and marketing tools has also made quite an impact here in Spain.
