ESADE Alumni invites you to take part in ''How to manage a supply chain in today's turbulent times'', a webinar by Frank Wiengarten, associate professor in ESADE's Department of Operations, Innovation and Data Sciences.

Companies are setting up complex construction and distribution networks throughout the world by taking advantage of country-specific economics of scale. They outsource different steps in the production process to increase their efficiency and effectiveness. This webinar is about the potential downsides of setting up a disperse, global network and how to manage it in today’s turbulent times.

Frank Wiengarten, PhD

Frank Wiengarten is an associate professor in the department of operations, innovation and data science at ESADE. Prior to working for ESADE he was a lecturer at University College Dublin in Ireland and Singapore. He received his PhD in cooperation with Volkswagen AG on subject related to buyer-supplier relationships.

He has worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers, BMW, Knorr Bremsen, the Boston Consulting Group, Schenker BTL, Lufthansa Technik, Benteler AG and ZF Friedrichshafen AG.

His research focuses on upstream supply chains where a buying company interfaces many suppliers organized in various forms of networks. The topics he has addressed in his studies are supply networks as a complex adaptive system, quality management in supply chains, outsourcing, and social and environmental sustainability issues. 

His articles have been published in the Journal of Operations Management, Journal of Supply Chain Management, Production and Operations Management, International Journal of Production Research, International Journal of Production Economics, and Supply Chain Management. He has co-authored two trade books on EB in the supply chain.
