The legal departments of the 'Big 4' and the future of the global legal profession

The ESADE Alumni Mexico Chapter is pleased to announce its forthcoming talk ''The legal departments of the Big 4 and the future of the global legal profession'' by professor María José Esteban Ferrer.

In 2011 the Harvard Law School Center on The Legal Profession implemented a project to constantly monitor the impact on global legal services of the upswing in the provision of legal services by the Big 4, i.e. PwC, EY, Deloitte and KPMG. This talk will explain how these sophisticated financial operators have overhauled their legal networks by incorporating legal services into a new type of business solution now being promoted aggressively in Asia, Latin America and Africa. 

 

 

María José Esteban Ferrer

María José Esteban holds a degree in law (Universidad de Barcelona), a PhD in economics and business (Universidad Ramon Llull) and is a fellow of the Real Academia Europea de Doctores.

Since 2010 she has been combining academic and professional activities. Associate professor in ESADE’s department of law, and associate researcher at the Harvard Law School Center on the Legal Professionwhere she focuses on the strategic management of quality and innovation in law firms, and also the economic, sociological and regulatory analysis of legal professions. She publishes papers in foremost academic journals and is a regular speaker at conferences and seminars.

As a practising lawyer, Dr Esteban is a partner in the mergers and acquisitions department at Escura, Barcelona, a sphere for which she has been listed in the Best Lawyers List for Spain since the early days of this publication.
