Presentation of the report, 'Funding the gap'

Conferencia | Spanish

January 23 OF 2017 from 08:30 AM to 10:00 AM

We invite you to a session of Big Challenges, a iniciative of ESADE and ESADE Alumni. The aim of Big Challenges is to increase awareness about major global trends; to help formulate key questions that can help us understand the world; and offer tools that will allow leaders and executives to address complex, poorly understood problems.

In its first public event, the ESADE Institute for Healthcare Management will present the report, ''Funding the gap. The future of the healthcare system: Is financing the system possible while reducing healthcare inequalities?''

The universalisation of healthcare systems in developed countries has contributed decisively to increase life expectancy and significantly improve the general population’s health while also reducing social inequality. We can clearly argue that it is one of the key developments in the last few decades. However, there is an ongoing debate about its economic sustainability: According to the most pessimistic forecasts, we will have to double the amount currently dedicated to finance healthcare in the next ten years. How will we pay this amount and how can we do so without destroying healthcare’s generalised nature and avoid creating more inequalities?
