In firms, innovation may be defined as “something novel aimed at success in the marketplace”. It is an element of competitiveness. Astute, customer-oriented, small improvements often create a great deal of value. Chinese entrepreneurs are remarkably effective in this area.

Innovations may well not involve any technical aspect. One example is the self service concept that revolutionised the retail industry without involving anything technical. Entrepreneurial spirit provides the vector to get the innovative offering to market, requiring effective technology transfer. This process of going from science to business is very arduous.

This workshop will highlight the ingredients of “Innovative China”. That country will soon be a major source of innovation for the world, according to a recent book by the author. It will briefly discuss BRI, another side of China’s innovation. The “new silk road initiative” announced in Astana in 2013, is the most significant geopolitical event since the fall of the Berlin wall in 1989.

After the workshop, IMD will serve a networking cocktail.

If you would like to come, you must register. Registration closes on June 18th.

We believe this will be a good opportunity for you to connect and network with other alumni from ESADE, IMD and other business schools.
