The ESADE Alumni Colombia Chapter is pleased to invite you, along with alumni of IESE in Colombia, to a breakfast session featuring Ahmad Rahnema, Professor of Financial Management.
Bitcoin – a digital currency that acts as a medium of exchange on the Internet – was created nearly 10 years ago. At this session, we will analyse the advantages of bitcoin (low transaction cost, speed of payment and receipt, and elimination of financial intermediaries) as well as its drawbacks (virtual nature, lack of legal foundation and lack of support from any monetary authority).
Ahmad Rahnema
Ahmad Rahnema is a Professor, Associate Director of Scientific Staff, Director of the Financial Management Department and holder of the Fuel Freedom Chair for Energy and Social Development at IESE . He is a co-editor of the International Journal of Finance Education, a member of the editorial board of the journal Harvard Deusto Business Review and the president of the Spanish Financial Forum of London.
He has authored or co-authored several books. Recent examples include Finanzas Internacionales, from 2006, and Basilea II, Una nueva forma de relación Banca-Empresa (with IESE Professor Jordi Soley), from 2004. Prof. Rahnema has worked on a variety of consulting assignments for a number of leading Spanish and international companies. His research focuses mainly on international finance, risk management and means of payment.
