Programa de continuidad | Spanish

September 13 OF 2016 from 08:30 AM to 10:00 AM

ESADE Alumni invites you to a talk in the Law Refresher Programme entitled "The new data protection regulations" by Rebeca Velasco (PIC 06), academic assistant in the Law Department at ESADE, Commercial area.

On 25 May 2016, new data protection regulations were passed by the European Parliament, and must be implemented by 25 May 2018.

These regulations replace the current data protection directive adopted in 1995 and implemented in Spain in 1999 in the form of the Organic Law on Data Protection.

These regulations aim to establish a common framework for their implementation in all EU member countries, and also to standardise and ensure uniform criteria for the implementation and warranty of privacy rights, and give European citizens a guarantee. It also requires companies to start adapting the new standard by adopting a very active role in data protection.

This talk will examine the guiding principles and new concepts and definitions set forth in these data protection regulations, and also the obligations of the manager and person in charge, and the new figure of the Data Protection Officer.
