New trends in Sports Businesses

English

March 05 OF 2018 from 06:30 PM to 10:00 PM

The ESADE Alumni Barcelona International Chapter is pleased to invite you to their forthcoming talk and panel event entitled 'New trends in sports businesses'.

Generational change has historically resulted in the evolution of consumption patterns and business models across all industries, and the sports business is no exception. As younger generations become the target audience, sports clubs and rights holders around the globe face the challenge of responding to changes in sports viewing patterns and substitutes such as social media and OTT platforms.

Top sports businesses are experiencing great transformations driven by the need to sustain the level of engagement with their fans during sporting events and ensure they remain relevant.

On the one hand, some have adapted quickly to these new trends, and this is the case of FC Barcelona. Being the most followed football club in the world, FC Barcelona is a class-leader in fan engagement by leveraging technology. Furthermore, they recently started their Innovation Hub with the aim of becoming the benchmark in knowledge and innovation in sports.

On the other hand, others are playing catch up but moving fast – like Formula 1. With the American company Liberty Media recently taking over the reins from Bernie Ecclestone, the championship, known for being the pinnacle of motorsports, is undergoing a historical transformation which has made fan engagement a hot topic.

Additionally, social media and OTT platforms offer new opportunities for activation and sponsorship and that has not gone under the radar of the top players.

Join us for this interesting conference in which keynote speakers will analyse the latest trends in major sports businesses.
