The Esade Alumni NYC Chapter is pleased to invite you to the upcoming event “Sense and Sensibility: New Models in Venture and Innovation” on Thursday, December 12th.

Startups, investment vehicles and corporate innovation teams have often been associated with high-risk + high-reward. This dynamic has yielded some amazing results and disruption (see FB for example), but also left a lot of companies, investors and teams in its wake. 

As the startup and innovation ecosystem has matured, new models for mitigating risk, aligning stakeholder incentives, investing sensibly and equitably, and designing businesses to succeed (and not just erupt), have emerged.

Wonchang Terry Choi
Investment Principal, 13 Ventures

Previously, served in Special Warfare Command in South Korea as a Sergeant and led 4th Squad in HQ. Meanwhile, invested, developed, and currently co-operating a 900m^2 commercial building. Received his BS degree in Alternative Investments along with Business Administration, Finance, and Mathematics from Gabelli School of Business

Michael Rogers
Partner, Interplay Ventures

Michael Rogers is a Partner of Interplay Ventures.  Michael has worked within the Interplay organization for over four years wearing several different hats as an operator and investor. Mike is passionate about innovation and actively volunteers his time to help entrepreneurs by making connections and designing coherent strategies. Prior to joining Interplay Mike spent time at J.P. Morgan and Barclays and when he's not working you can find him skiing, surfing or otherwise outdoors.

Matt Melbourne
Head of Investments, Republic

Matt leads Business Development and is Head of Investment at Republic––an investment platform for startups to raise capital and for everyone to invest in startups. He and his team educate entrepreneurs on the value of opening up the investment opportunity to everyone, including their most loyal customers or users.
