Smart Cities. Scenarios, opportunities and business models

Spanish

March 09 OF 2016 from 07:30 PM to 09:00 PM

The ESADE Alumni Energy & Environment Club is holding a conference entitled "Smart Cities. Scenarios, opportunities and business models".

According to all data, the urban population will account for 70% of the total world population by 2050, up from 56% today. In addition, more than 90% of population growth in developing countries is happening in cities, and the resources and services their inhabitants need continues to climb.

For all these reasons, the intelligent management of city resources is a must. The sustainable development and transformation of urban environments tailored to the needs of all inhabitants is becoming a priority for local authorities.

Smart cities must feature criteria able to link up different factors and make them interact intelligently, for example architecture, urban planning, lower energy consumption, sustainability and renewable energy, together with efficient mobility and the good management of waste, water and materials. The ultimate aim is to enhance the quality of city life and increase the standard of living of city inhabitants.
