Social Investment: Venture Capital or Philanthropy?

Spanish

January 25 OF 2018 from 07:00 PM to 08:30 PM

The ESADE Alumni Balearic Club is pleased to invite you to a panel discussion about social investment led by Elena Pons (GEMBA 11), investment portfolio manager at MCE Social Capital.

Social investments are a type of investment that produces a financial return and also a social – and sometimes even an environmental – benefit. Against this background, Elena Pons will present the investment fund she works for, MCE Social Capital, which invests in start-ups and well-established companies with a social focus. Examples of investments might be a micro bank providing micro-loans for small milk producers in Bolivia, a company that installs solar-powered water pumps in Mauritania, a forestry company that provides technical assistance and seeds to enable Kenyan producers to plant eucalyptus trees, or a tropical fruit processing company in Nicaragua.
The question is: can social investment be profitable? Come along and find out.
