Titans of Data

Desayunos | Spanish

December 12 OF 2019 from 09:00 AM to 10:30 AM

The ESADE Alumni Business Innovation and Technologies Club cordially invites you to a breakfast talk by Paloma Llaneza, CEO of Razona LegalTech, the eIDAS-IT technical director at CERTICAR, and founder of The LLaneza Firm.

Today’s world is immersed in the data economy, a technology environment focussed on the production, mining, management and storage of data. Pioneering platforms such as Google, Amazon and Facebook together with the BAT (Baidu, Alibaba and Tencent) have built an empire based on complex, sophisticated digital businesses whose business model consists basically of data mining and analysis (about users, systems, devices, etc) and making these data available to third parties.

Under pressure from each other against a backdrop of cut-throat competition, they constantly launch new services aimed at generating new data to enable them to maintain their market dominance, and create other markets where they can develop new standards and perpetuate their position as market leader. They are already essential.

In recent years, however, these models have been criticised and regulatory frameworks have emerged alongside a great awareness of the concepts of privacy and security.

This breakfast talk will take a look at how these titans manage data, the power they wield over public opinion and the authorities, the practices they carry out, the ideal balance between service and privacy, and the new regulatory frameworks and scenarios coming soon.
