The Esade Alumni Barcelona International Chapter and the Esade Alumni WE Club invite you to join this co-organised event on the occasion of International Women’s Day. Many of us already interact with artificial intelligence (AI) in our daily lives, and organisations have introduced AI into many work processes, especially recruiting and talent-management functions. However, while AI has the potential to make human processes and decisions more efficient and less biased, acting as a true equaliser, a growing body of evidence suggests that humans are programming their own biases – including around gender and race – into the algorithms behind AI. When AI inherits – or even amplifies – the biases of its creators, existing gaps in hiring and promoting women and people of colour can widen. At this event, we will analyse what happens when algorithms rely on biased input to make predictions, what can be done to prevent these biases in AI in workplaces, and how AI can actually serve as an equaliser.
