The ESADE Alumni Health and Pharma Club and the ESADE Alumni Public Management Club join forces to start the new academic year in Madrid with a talk entitled ''Childhood Obesity: a matter of public health. Who is responsible?''
Overweight and obese children is a problem that affects society as a whole and, according to the WHO, is one of the most serious public health issues of the 21st century on account of its subsequent negative impact for adults because they are more likely to suffer non-infectious illnesses such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
A variety of public and private ventures have been implemented in Spain to promote healthy eating and physical activity with a view to reversing the obesity trend. This problem is particularly acute amongst children and young people, particularly those in disadvantaged settings. Policies, strategies and programmes that involve all segments of society must be implemented.
We have invited two world-class speakers to share their experiences of and points of view about this issue.
Paco Roncero, two-star Michelin chef, executive chef at Madrid Casino and En Estado Puro gastropubs.
María Angeles Dal Re, coordinator of the Naos strategy in Spain. Spanish agency of consumer affairs, food safety and nutrition.
See you there!
