Esade Alumni is pleased to invite you to this talk in the Refresher Programme, “(Re)invent your business model: sources of inspiration for strategic innovation” by Joaquín Cava, PMD academic director and associate professor in the department of general management and strategy at ESADE, and Francisco López (CE Lic&Máster 76), director of the publishing house Libros de Cabecera. Coinciding with the launch of “(Re)inventa tu modelo de negocio”, the Spanish version of the book, this session will outline a practical way of inspiring strategic innovation. This book by the HEC professors Laurence Lehmann-Ortega, Hélène Musikas and Jean-Marc Schoettl provides 14 useful paths or directions to help think about how different parts of a business model can be altered with a view to creating new value proposals for customers. Joaquín Cava Joaquín Cava has spent most of his working career in The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) which he joined in 1994. He was appointed partner and vice president of the firm in January 2002. During his years as a consultant, he has worked for a wide range of customers in many sectors: FMCG, banking, industry (cement, machine tools, metallurgy ...), energy, telecommunications, diversified family-firm industrial conglomerates, etc. He has carried out projects across a wide spectrum of functions, including strategy definition and implementation; design and implementation of business or expansion plans; organisational and process design; definition of commercial strategies (channels, products, pricing, etc); implementation of plans to improve operating efficiency; management of mergers to achieve synergies; valuation of procurement goals and participation in due diligence processes; and overseeing the design and implementation of new IT strategies. Whilst at BCG, Joaquín Cava was also in charge of recruitment and marketing for its Madrid, Barcelona and Lisbon offices. Prior to joining BCG, he worked for The Mac Group and Prodesfarma, SA. Francisco López Entrepreneur, consultant and lawyer. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (ESADE) and degree in law.
In 1982 he founded CMC Consultores. This firm was incorporated into Andersen Consulting in 1989.
He was a partner at Andersen until 2002 in the area of system and process consulting, with particular emphasis on financial processes. In 2002, Francisco founded FraLucca, a consultancy specialised in business and administrative outsourcing. In 2014 this firm was incorporated into the Vistra International group. Founding partner of Sputnik Inversiones, a firm specialised in seed fund investment. Partner and administrator of several companies including the business publishing house Libros de Cabecera. He has written and published seven books on business subjects. See you there!
